Over time, tooth loss can cause this area to deteriorate and weaken. As a result, it can be increasingly difficult to ensure a successful implant placement if a lot of time has passed between your teeth falling out and seeking treatment. However, if you have ample jawbone available, you will not need to undergo a bone graft before receiving your dental implants.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">You Do Not Suffer From Serious Overall Health Issues<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Although dental implant failure is rare, an autoimmune disease or another serious overall health condition can cause failed osseointegration because of your weakened immune system. While it\u2019s not impossible to receive these prosthetics while battling certain health problems, you will need to be vigilant in taking proper care of yourself to avoid issues with your dental implants. Diabetes, osteoporosis, heart failure, as well as countless other systemic diseases, can make dental implant placement much more difficult.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">You Do Not Smoke or Use Tobacco Products<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Similar to how autoimmune disorders can cause implant failure, so can smoking, using tobacco products, and drinking excessively. By continuing this bad habit, you put yourself at risk for gum disease, which can be detrimental to your implants if left untreated. You also increase your chances of failed osseointegration. If your body cannot heal properly because of your smoking, the implant and bone will not fuse. It is necessary that you do not smoke or at least quit for a designated period of time to allow your body to positively respond to your dental implant placement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">You Are Committed to Better Oral Hygiene<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Even if the reason for your dental implants is that you did not practice good oral hygiene, you will need to show your dedication to taking better care of your teeth and gums. Dental implants are an investment in your time and money, so you do not want to throw it all away by avoiding proper brushing, flossing, rinsing, and regular checkups at your dentists\u2019 office.
